Pope Francis today lamented the deaths and damage caused by the strong Hurricane Ida in the United States, which has claimed around fifty lives in the northeast region and has caused extensive damage.
“I assure my prayers for the peoples of the United States hit by a strong hurricane in recent days. May the Lord receive the souls of the dead and support those who suffer this calamity,” said the pope after the Angelus prayer.
The Hurricane Ida has claimed the lives of at the least 50 people, half in the state of New Jersey.
President Joe Biden will visit the states of New York and New Jersey next Tuesday to see the damage caused on the ground, the White House reported this Saturday. EFE
