British Prime Minister Boris Johnson held a conversation with United States President Joe Biden on Tuesday, in which he “updated” him on his recent visit to Ukraine.
Johnson praised the US president for the “strength and decision” of the Ukrainian president, Volodymyr Zelensky, with whom he held a meeting in Kiev on Saturday, a spokeswoman for Downing Street, the official office of the British head of government, reported in a statement.
In their conversation today, both leaders “addressed the need to accelerate aid to Ukraine” , including “boosting military and economic support” .
“Ukrainian forces are preparing for another Russian onslaught in the east of the country ,” Downing Street warned, stressing that Johnson “paid tribute to the colossal US military contribution” to help Kiev deal with Russia’s attacks.
The British prime minister, who faces political pressure in the United Kingdom on Tuesday after learning that he will be fined for the party scandal during the pandemic, condemned the “monstrous attempts” of Russian President Vladimir Putin to invade Ukraine.
He also expressed his condolences to Biden for the victims of the shooting perpetrated today in the New York subway.
