The official timekeeper of the Tour de France creates limited-edition watches in commemoration of the world’s most prestigious cycling competitions.
On a scorching day, the cycling competition known as the Tour de France 2022 is drawing to a close. Tissot, the event’s official timekeeper, accompanied the cyclists who come from all over the world to compete in it to the Champs-Élysées once again. The Tour de France continues to be one of the most prestigious and widely watched sporting events on the planet, with almost 200 competitors and a distance of more than 3,000 kilometers covered. Before joining forces with the International Cycling Union in 1995 to become the Official Timekeeper of the World Championships in the road, track, mountain bike, and BMX cycling, Tissot was in charge of timing the Tour de France from 1988 until 1992. During that period, the Tour de France took place every year. In 2016, the Swiss manufacturer made its comeback to the Tour de France, as well as appearances at the other two major events, the Giro d’Italia and the Vuelta an Espaa. How should one schedule such an event? The stairwells have been fitted with sensors, the bicycles have been provided with transponders, and the entire system is monitored and managed by a network of computers. Last but not least, high-speed cameras can take 10,000 pictures per second at the finish lines, allowing analysts to analyze even the closest sprint finishes.

In the cycling competition known as the T Race, which will be held in 2022, the pushers will represent the brake levers, and the hands will stand in for the spokes. Carbon is used in the construction of the watch case’s center ring. The addition of perforated leather to the rubber strap makes the accessory reminiscent of the handlebar grips found on touring cycles. In the end, the race logos are etched on the case back, and the colors of each competition (yellow for the Tour de France, pink for the Giro, and red for the Vuelta) are repeated on the second hands and the crowns of the watch. The quartz movement in it has a chronograph function, so it can tell the time, the minutes, the seconds, and the date.
