WHAT’S NEW: Have you been looking forward to the Tudor all this time? The brand with the crown produces a surprise by revealing a new titanium diver with wise measurements
We left it in November of last year, among the underwater mysteries of the legendary Commando Hubert, with a Pelagos FXD as a memorial to the men who fought in the darkness and the waves. A diver’s watch that is more than just a diver’s watch, with fixed bracelet bars that are squarely machined into the mass of its imposing 42 mm diameter titanium case with a matt satin finish. The success of this model coming to complete the Pelagos family then announced for 3650 € was immediate.

Now, barely two months after the presentation of its new Ranger range, the half-sister of Rolex is once again demonstrating its unfailing dynamism by unexpectedly unveiling in these first days of the new school year, on the occasion of the Geneva Watch Days, a brand new Pelagos 39 model, in grade 2 titanium, and offering it for €4,140. Its sensible measurements, its thinness (11.8 mm), its lightness, and its increased readability due to the absence of date all contribute to the fact that it possesses everything necessary to win over both swimmers and divers (water resistance to 200 meters is required), as well as urban explorers. Its new diameter of 39 mm satisfies the expectations of fans of the shield brand and provides those with reasonably sized wrists with a further option in addition to the Black Bay Fifty-Eight and the Black Bay Pro.

There is a chronometer-certified MT5400 movement on board, which has already been seen on the Black Bay 925. This movement comes with a power reserve of 70 hours and is chronometer-certified by the COSC. On its sunray-brushed black dial (would we see a blue variety arise tomorrow? ), which also features monobloc applied indexes in luminous ceramic composite, we find “Snowflake” hands, which have been a characteristic of Tudor diving watches since 1969. At the six o’clock position on this dial, the name Pelagos is displayed in a cherry red color that sticks out brilliantly. The bezel insert is made of sunray-brushed black ceramic, which is highlighted by the minute scale that is marked on the flange. This gives the whole thing a sense of depth. Take note that the diameter of the titanium unidirectional rotating bezel extends slightly beyond the middle of the watch to make its operation more intuitive.

The last benefit of this brand new Pelagos 39 is a grade 2 titanium bracelet that features an 8 mm “T-fit” quick-adjustment clasp as well as a 25 mm diving extension, should it be required. In addition to this, it comes with a buckle made of grade 2 titanium and a strap made of black rubber. Tudor complies, as a result, this new model is still and always provided with a transferable warranty for five years, and there is no requirement for registration or interim checks.
