Due to an unavoidable circumstance, Emma Raducanu was unable to take advantage of the opportunity to go to her first final on the circuit since the US Open 2021.
Emma Raducanu of Great Britain was forced to retire from the WTA (250) tournament in Seoul on Saturday owing to an injury. If she had continued playing, she would have had a chance to qualify for her first final on the circuit since her unexpected victory at the US Open in 2021.
Raducanu appeared to be suffering from a thigh injury as she lost the second set to the Latvian Jelena Ostapenko, who was seeded number one. Raducanu won the first set against Ostapenko 6-4. At 0-3 in the deciding set, she ultimately conceded defeat and threw down the towel.

The teenager, who is only 19, has not been able to establish her status since her astonishing victory in the final of the 2021 US Open. This year, the Romanian athlete Raducanu was eliminated in the first round by the Frenchwoman Alizé Cornet. She is presently ranked 77th in the WTA, which is a significant drop from her highest position last summer (10th).
Ostapenko, who is ranked 19th in the world, will compete against the Russian Ekaterina Alexandrova, who is seeded No. 2 and won the semifinal against the German Tatjana Maria, who was ranked No. 7, in straight sets (6-2, 6-4) on Saturday. The final will take place on Sunday.
