On Friday, Italy head coach Roberto Mancini called up 29 players for the final two matches of the Nations League against England and Hungary. However, the roster does not include Lorenzo Insigne or Federico Bernardeschi because they have both moved to Toronto since the beginning of the summer.
Ciro Immobile, a striker for Lazio Rome who was injured and unable to participate in any of Italy’s international matches during June, makes his first appearance in the national team’s lineup since the embarrassing loss to North Macedonia in the first round of the 2022 World Cup in March.
AS Roma striker Nicolo Zaniolo, who is returning from a shoulder injury, Giallorossi full-back Leonardo Spinazzola, and European champions Lorenzo Insigne and Federico Bernardeschi, who both departed the club this summer, are not participating in the match. The North American Championship will be held in Serie A.
Ivan Provedel of Lazio Rome, Guglielmo Vicario of Empoli, and Pasquale Mazzocchi of Salernitana are the three latest additions to this list. Provider plays goalkeeper for Lazio Rome, and Vicario plays for Empoli.
The match between Italy and England will take place in Milan on September 23, and then Italy will fly to Hungary on the last day, September 26.
The Nazionale is presently in third place in their pool behind Hungary (7 points) and Germany (6 points), with a record of one victory, two draws, and one loss for a total of five points. They still have a mathematical chance of making it to the Final Four.
