It has only been a few weeks since Melyssa Pinto has returned from her adventure in Honduras and, even with the debate about Olga Moreno’s victory open, she has conducted an exclusive interview for Lecturas magazine where she has recounted one of her most personal problems.
“It is a subject that I had never wanted to talk about,” he confessed. However, he is aware that his words can help others who see the program: “I wanted it to reach especially young people who have this problem that is seen in the world of the catwalk, fashion and the stereotype that exists. of the perfect woman … “.
While she was in the fourth year of ESO, the former contestant on The Island of Temptations had bulimia and anorexia. “I came to weigh 44 or 45 kilos, I was 15 or 16 years old,” he confesses. “I was going to a psychiatrist in Barcelona,” he says. Thanks to medical help, the young woman was able to regain weight and return to a more normal relationship with food.
However, she assures that even today she is not cured “one hundred percent”: “You have this problem all your life, you have to learn to cope with it. ” And she is proud of her progress: “Before, if I didn’t look good, I didn’t eat. Now, if I don’t look good, I eat a little better, but I eat, and I don’t deprive myself of the things I want to eat. That means that there is an evolution “.
Still, facing a challenge as extreme as Survivors could cause an imbalance in your mental and physical health. “Before going I thought: ‘If I come back very thin, I’ll be afraid to look good and not want to get fat.’ It’s a double-edged sword.”
Melyssa recognizes that her anorexia is caused by a “lack of self-esteem”: “When a person does not love himself, he does not see himself as he should look”. And after many emotional bumps experienced since his ex-partner Tom Brusse cheated on her during his time on The Island of Temptations, Pinto says that now he loves himself more and that he has “learned to forgive” the French.
