Alexis Bledel and Vincent Kartheiser have chosen to split after an eight-year marriage.
The Hollywood Reporter has learned from Kartheiser’s team that the divorce suit was filed on August 10 with Bledel. A spokesman for Bledel did not immediately respond to a request for comment sent their way.
Before their wedding in 2014 and the birth of their first child in the fall of 2015, the two celebrities did not publicly discuss their relationship.
The couple initially met in 2012 on the set of the Emmy Award-winning AMC series Mad Men, where Kartheiser, then 43, played Pete Campbell. Bledel, who is now 40 years old, played Beth Dawes in three episodes in the fifth season.
Kartheiser revealed in 2014 that keeping the nature of his relationship with the actress private was one of his top goals. When asked about it, he told Vulture at the time, “that’s something I realized about the most important things in my life.” “It reduces it if I share them with the world and open that door to their terrible wrath that they need to get out or their adoration that they want to flaunt,” she said. “It’s a win-win situation.” It becomes less valuable and weaker as a result. And it’s incredible, love, and everything else, and it’s all… incredibly spiritual, and it just doesn’t feel right.”
Bledel rose to prominence as Rory Gilmore in the television series Gilmore Girls, and she was nominated for an Emmy for her work as Emily in the Hulu series The Handmaid’s Tale. She has also appeared in films such as “The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants” and “The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2.”
Kartheiser’s most recent work includes a recurring role as the Scarecrow in the third season of Titans on HBO Max.
